Pure Dance Performing Arts
Inspire Through Motion
About Us
Pure Dance Performing Arts was a dream created by the passion Sage Showers has for dance, the Lord, and teaching. After moving to Hammon, Oklahoma, in January of 2016, Sage felt the call to revive love for the performing arts in her community. Beginning with a concept, Sage ran a week-long performing arts camp in June of 2017, and after its success and requests for more, Pure Dance became a realization.
Our mission is simple: To give children and adults the opportunity to learn the art of dance and express themselves and their praise to the Lord through it, and instill a love and knowledge of music and performance.
Our name is significant. Dance is a way we can connect with ourselves and with God. When we reach this point of connection, we can openly and purely worship Christ, and rejoice in God's presence and the knowledge He created us all different and equal. We can be unafraid to express ourselves in utter abandonment...for that is where true creativity lies. The word 'Pure' is simple and profound in itself, expressing our passion for dance in its highest form, unaltered, while leaving room for continual creative growth.
About Sage
Sage Showers has studied different types of dance for eleven years. The majority of her training was in classical ballet and contemporary. She trained professionally in these art forms with Matthew and Sandra Bridwell at the Tulsa Dance and Performing Arts Academy, a prestigious school with over 26 years of teaching experience. Sage competed in the Youth American Grand Prix in 2016, performed in Tulsa's Mayfest, and has attended multiple dance intensives, including those hosted by Ad Deum Dance Company in Houston, Ballet Magnificat Weekend Intensive in Arkansas, and COCA in St. Louis. Sage has created and ran her own week-long summer performing arts camp, and hopes to do so again. She is also an aspiring choreographer, having already choreographed many of her own pieces. Sage is an art and music enthusiast, passionate about the Lord, teaching, her family and community.
